Colorado kratom requirements

Colorado Senate Bill 25-072 became law on May 29, 2025. The Colorado Attorney General says the requirements are in effect.

• Kratom may not be sold or marketed to anyone under 21.
• Products are subject to labeling and packaging requirements, including required disclosures.
• Manufacturers and sellers must follow Colorado rules governing the composition and presentation of kratom products.
• Some Colorado cities may have stricter local rules, including bans.

FEDERAL ORDER + SEPARATE PROPOSAL

Federal 7-OH and related-substance status

Updated August 26, 2026

DEA has temporarily placed three specifically named 7-OH-related substances—mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16—in Schedule I. The order took effect August 26, 2026 and is scheduled to remain in effect through August 26, 2028 unless DEA extends or replaces it. The order also covers certain chemical forms and salts of those substances.

This completed order is separate from DEA’s proposal concerning 7-hydroxymitragynine above a specified threshold. HHS extended the public-information period for that threshold through September 10, 2026. As of this update, Kiody has not identified a separate Federal Register order making the proposed above-threshold 7-OH scheduling effective.

The August 26 order does not say that ordinary botanical kratom leaf is broadly scheduled under this action. State and local rules still apply, and restrictions can change.
