Colorado kratom requirements
Colorado Senate Bill 25-072 became law on May 29, 2025. The Colorado Attorney General says the requirements are in effect.
- Kratom may not be sold or marketed to anyone under 21.
- Products are subject to labeling and packaging requirements, including required disclosures.
- Manufacturers and sellers must follow Colorado rules governing the composition and presentation of kratom products.
- Some Colorado cities may have stricter local rules, including bans.

Federal 7-OH scheduling status
On July 1, 2026, the DEA announced the start of a temporary scheduling process for 7-OH above a proposed threshold and three related synthetic substances. The agency said the action is aimed at concentrated and synthetic products, not botanical kratom containing only naturally occurring trace levels of 7-OH.
The FDA described the July action as a Notice of Intent and stated that a temporary scheduling order could be issued no sooner than 30 days after publication. As of this review, the official DEA and FDA pages available to us still describe a scheduling process—not a completed final order.
